Hope House is a community-based, 13-bed group treatment home for adolescent girls with emotional and behavioral problems. This program provides a structured living environment in which the youth is encouraged to resolve problem issues through group treatment. The program attempts to empower the residents to take responsibility for their behavior, emotional stability and future success. A resident remains in the program, progressing through several levels until she earns her release.
The Hope House program includes individual and group therapy, family counseling, academic tutoring, daily living skills and recreation. We stress building a positive relationship with the community through the arts, volunteering, church and school involvement. more
WHO IS IT FOR AND HOW DOES IT WORK?
Hope House is geared toward girls who have been unable to function appropriately in their home environment, have difficulties at school, have had contact with the law, who have drug or alcohol problems, and have often been physically and sexually abused or both. The average length of stay varies between 11 to 14 months, depending on when the girl earns her positive release.
The program provides a structured living environment for each resident designed to help each girl develop age appropriate behavior with improved emotional adjustment. Treatment is aimed at developing appropriate ways of dealing with feelings, learning to develop healthy relationships while accepting responsibility for behavior and actions.
Hope House makes use of community resources which include the public schools system, recreational and cultural events, as well as such self-help groups as young person’s and women’s A.A. meetings.
